Compress Images Online - Free, No Upload | ImgLite

Make photos light enough for email, forms and web pages in seconds.

How much smaller?

A typical 3 to 5 MB phone photo drops to about 300 to 600 KB at 75% quality and 1920 px wide, with no visible difference on screen.

Picking settings

Auto keeps JPG photos as JPG and saves transparent PNGs as WebP for the smallest file.

Quality 70 to 80% is the sweet spot. Use 90% or more for print.

Max width 1920 px is plenty for most websites and chat apps.

Why it is private

ImgLite re-encodes images with your browser's Canvas API. Files are never sent over the internet, so ID scans and contracts stay on your device.

Fit under a size limit

If a form or website says something like "200 KB max", pick a target size. Each file is re-saved at a few quality levels, and the best-quality result that still fits is kept. If 40% quality is still too big, the width and height are reduced step by step, never below 320 px on the long side and never larger than the original.

If the original is already under the target, it is kept as it is.

If the target cannot be reached, the result says so and the smallest file is kept.

PNG is lossless and has no quality setting. If you choose PNG as the output format, it stays PNG and only the dimensions are reduced. Choose WebP or JPG for much smaller files.

1 KB is counted as 1,000 bytes, which leaves a small margin for sites that count 1,024 bytes.

Why does my PNG become WebP?

PNG is lossless, so lowering quality barely helps. Auto mode saves a much smaller WebP that keeps transparency. Pick PNG in Output format if you need it.

How many files at once?

No hard limit, but processing uses device memory, so batches of a few dozen work best.

What if the result is bigger?

Already optimized files are kept as the original.

Does a target size lower the quality a lot?

It keeps the highest quality that still fits. Quality stays at or below your Quality setting and does not go under 40%; past that point the image is resized instead. Each result shows the final size, the dimensions and the quality used.

What if the target cannot be reached?

If the file is still too big at 40% quality and 320 px on the long side, or the limit of 24 re-saves (about 20 seconds per file) runs out, the result says the target was missed and the smallest file is kept. Try a slightly larger target or WebP output.

Blur & Pixelate Photos - Hide Faces and Text, No Upload | ImgLite

Drag a box or paint over what you want to hide. Your photo never leaves this device.

How to use it

Open a photo. iPhone HEIC photos work too.

Drag a box over the area to hide, or paint it with the brush. Drag a box to move it and drag a corner to resize it. If dragging is hard, tap the photo once or press Add box, then move it with the arrow buttons.

Pick an effect (pixelate, blur or cover) and a strength, then press Save. Made a mistake? Use Undo (Ctrl+Z).

Pixelate, blur or cover?

Blur looks natural for faces and backgrounds. For text that must not be read, such as ID numbers, licence plates, addresses or bank details, use Cover (a solid black box). A light blur or small pixel blocks can leave the outline of the letters, and tools that guess blurred text back have been published. If you pixelate text, raise the strength until each letter fits in one or two blocks.

Why metadata (EXIF) is removed

Phone photos can carry EXIF data such as the GPS location, date and time, and camera model. Even with faces hidden, a location tag can reveal a home or office, so this tool writes no metadata into the saved file. The photo's rotation is applied before saving, so it will not appear sideways.

Resolution and formats

The file is saved at the original resolution. On phones, photos above about 16 megapixels are edited at a smaller size so the browser does not run out of memory, and the page tells you when that happens. JPG suits photos, PNG suits screenshots and text, and WebP gives smaller files.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Editing and saving happen inside this browser with the Canvas API. The only download is a converter of about 1 MB the first time you open a HEIC photo, and the photo itself is never sent.

Can the blur be undone in the saved file?

The saved file does not contain the original pixels of the covered area. A light blur or small blocks can still be guessed from their shape, so use Cover for important text.

Can I use it with a keyboard?

Yes. Focus the photo area, press Enter to add a box, use the arrow keys to move it and Shift+arrow keys to resize it. [ and ] switch between boxes and Delete removes one. Ctrl+Z undoes and Ctrl+Y redoes.

Will quality drop?

The resolution stays the same. JPG and WebP are re-saved at 92% quality by default, and PNG is lossless.

GIF Maker - Make a GIF from Photos or Video, No Upload | ImgLite

Make an animated GIF from photos or a short video. Files stay in this browser while the GIF is encoded.

Make a GIF from photos

Add two or more photos.

Drag the handle or use the ↑ and ↓ buttons to reorder them, and set how long each frame shows. Apply to all sets every frame at once.

Choose the size, shape and loop count, then press Make GIF.

Make a GIF from a video

Open a video and set a start and end time (up to 10 seconds). While the video plays, Set start here and Set end here save typing. Pick a frame rate (5 to 15) and a width, and the browser reads the frames one by one and builds the GIF. Sound is not included.

Tips for smaller files

GIF compresses far less efficiently than video, so a few seconds can easily reach several MB.

Halving the width leaves a quarter of the pixels, which shrinks the file a lot.

Going from 15 to 10 frames per second cuts the frame count by a third.

Keep the clip short. Two to four seconds is often enough for a reaction GIF.

Dithering smooths gradients but can make the file larger.

What GIF can and cannot do

The GIF89a format holds at most 256 colours per frame, so skies and skin tones can show banding. This tool works out a separate 256-colour palette for each frame (median cut). Some chat apps and social networks convert large GIFs to video or reject them, so check the size limit of where you are posting.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Reading video frames and encoding the GIF both happen in this browser, in a Web Worker. The encoder ships with this site, so no outside service is contacted.

Which photo and video formats work?

Photos can be JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC. Videos work if your browser can play them: MP4 (H.264) opens almost everywhere, WebM in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and iPhone MOV (HEVC) mostly in Safari.

Why does a very short delay play slower?

GIF timing is stored in hundredths of a second, and many browsers play delays shorter than 0.02 s as 0.1 s. That is why the minimum here is 0.02 s (50 frames per second).

How does the loop count work?

The default is to loop forever. If you choose a number, the GIF plays that many times and stops on the last frame. Some viewers ignore the setting or count the loops differently.
